January 31, 2019Dear Parishioners, The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, which falls on February 2, is the last of the feasts directly related to Christmas. The Jewish custom was to present the firstborn son to God in the Temple forty days after his birth. Mary and Joseph did this for Jesus. On this feast candles are blessed. Since this year the day falls on Saturday, we will celebrate a special Mass at 10 a.m. Everyone present will be invited to participate in the entrance procession with candles lighted. The candles will be provided. If you have devotional candles for the home you may bring them early and place them on the table with the church candles for the blessing.
