September 3, 2013Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (ABVM) Parish in West Grove, founded in 1873, has had many occasions to celebrate lately as its members have enthusiastically joined together to run a $300,000 campaign to complete the lower level of the church located on State Road. This successful campaign showed the first fruits of its labor on August 22, 2013 when several leaders of the church gathered, along with local contractors, to witness Pastor William Murphy sign a contract agreement to start construction. Completion of the lower level of the main church will include office space for parish staff, a large community gathering room, and meeting spaces for various church organizations. Construction started on September 3, 2013 and predicts a completion time occurring in January 2014. ABVM Parish has a rich history of serving West Grove and surrounding areas for over 140 years with the start of its service beginning in the first church, rectory, and convent on West Evergreen Street in downtown West Grove. Since this humble beginning, ABVM Church has grown to be a spiritual home for over 2000 families and includes its parish school, started in 1922, with 277 students currently enrolled.
